Mrs. Margaret Nwosu

President

Margaret Nwosu is a registered Social Worker (RSW) working for over 17 years with one of the leading Social Services Agencies as a Program Manager.

Before moving to Canada with her family for over 23 years, Margaret holds BSC in Mass Communication from Lagos State University and a Diploma in Public Relations from then Nigerian Institute of Journalism and worked as a project manager with Empress Magazine

Here in Canada, Margaret attended York University where she obtained Degree in Social Work (BSW), holds Diploma in Social Services Worker from Humber College (SSW) and registered under Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, (OCSWSSW). Margaret also has a Diploma Certificate in Immigration Consultant from Humber College.

Margaret has helped develop lots of programs through her work in the Social Work sector such as Community Connections for newcomers, Violence Prevention Program for women experiencing domestic violence/intimate partner violence. Margaret served in the advisory committee of Library Settlement Program (LSP), Employment Support Action Committee, Employment Resource Action Group under Toronto West Local Immigration Partnership (TWLIPS). Margaret also sits in the advisory council of Achev, An Employment funded program for Newcomer women.

Margaret served as a Vice President and now President of the Nigerian Canadian Association (NCAGTA). Margaret works tirelessly in support of the community and society at large, always going the extra mile and beyond to support and help whenever called upon. She supports and continues to support through the liaison with the NHC on important and urgent needs of our community members in the GTA.

Margaret also holds positions such as the General Secretary of Abia Community Organization of Ontario. A position she has held now for about six years. She holds the position of assistant Chairperson of the Oguta Ameshi Association of Ontario. Margaret seats on the board of many organizations and in so many advisory councils of agencies, programs and committees.

Margaret through her influence has a youth’s support program/initiative in Nigeria where youths are supported both in education, trades and empowerment.

Margaret is a very resilient woman who turns the lemons life throws at her into lemonade in support of others and continuous development of resilience, growth and strength.

Margaret is gifted with leadership qualities and utilizes this gift by contributing her quota to the development of our Nigerian community, support for the vulnerable and mentoring of our young women.

Margaret continues to be recognized for her work in support of both our Nigerian Community and GTA community in general. She had received awards such as; Community Impact Award, Community Excellence Award, Community Builder award and others.

Margaret has been married for 27 years and have four sons which is why she is known and called “Nneboys”
